About Us​

​​At Sunnyside, we believe every student can be successful and achieve his or her full potential. ​

Respect and community are an integral part of supporting every student in their education. Our students build strong bonds through schoolwide activities, class projects and field trips.

School Hours

Mon., Tues., Thurs. and Fri.
9:30 am
–3:45 pm

Early Release Wed.
9:30 am–2:30 pm

In the mornings, children may be dropped off in the schoolyard starting at 9:15 am for supervised play. You can walk your children onto school grounds or drop them at the rolling drop-off zone on Hearst Street, staffed by parent volunteers.

Office Hours

8:15 am–​4 pm

The office is staffed and open on days when school is open—not on weekends or holidays.

Diversity

Sunnyside welcomes students from all ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds from the adjacent neighborhoods of Sunnyside, Glen Park, Bernal Heights, Miraloma Park, Noe Valley, Outer Mission, Potrero Hill and Excelsior.​

Facility

The main building was built in 1926, and our newer building, the Ruby Bell Wing, was completed in 2015. We have a welcoming library, an auditorium/cafeteria, a learning garden and a large schoolyard. Murals brighten our grounds and a mosaic mural graces our main entrance.

Sunnyside is proud to be recognized as a California Distinguished School by the state's Department of Education (DOE) and a California Business for Education Excellence (CBEE) Honor Roll School.
